Kokeshi Mix & Match

Kokeshi Dolls are fun to make and great to  display or for little girls play time.

To make them more interesting and entertaining I have made the parts interchangeable.

Interchangeable Bodies, Heads & Hair

There are many patterns to choose from for the basic Kokeshi. Pick one or two  make the Head, Hair and Body separate.

Make the head as usual until the last 4 or 6 stitches (depending on the size of the head & body).

Do not bind off but continue working these 4 (or 6) stitches for about 1.5"  be sure to stuff  then bind off.

Make body from the bottom up when you get to the top ( be sure you have stuffed ) on last 4 or 6 stitches ( same number as for head) continue working around about 1.5" do not bind off  - Push down into the body  this opening will allow for manipulating the stuffing around this shaft.

Prepare hair in the usual manner do not attach to head.  Spruce up the Hair & Body as desired. Don't forget the eyes & lips.
